• Bye Babs Day +1, Update #2

    March 1, 2025

Not quite the day we were hoping for…Liz has been nauseous off and on, and has had varying levels of pain, which for her means she’s been in a lot of pain. Still no gas or stool has been passed so it’s probably safe to say she will be in the hospital another overnight. Bummer.…

  • Bye Babs Day +1

    March 1, 2025

Quiet night at the hospital, our girl slept off and on most of the night. She’s been walking around and sitting up in a recliner, and has been upgraded to a full liquid diet. She won’t be discharged until she passes gas or stool, which I imagine is slow going on a liquid diet 🤷🏼‍♂️…

  • 8:41 am – Bye Babs Surgery Update

    February 28, 2025

Procedure is done and the surgeon said it went very well. Dr. Narayan said it goes pretty quickly when the patient is thin (check) and the same person did both the initial and the closure surgeries. Waiting to hear what room she is in and I will meet her there. Chris

  • 7:32 am – Bye Babs Surgery Update

    February 28, 2025

They just wheeled her back to the OR to start the procedure, estimated duration is 90 minutes – not sure if that includes the administration of anesthesia. Will check back in soon. Chris

  • Bye Babs – Surgery Update 6:49 am

  • The Other Woman

    February 25, 2025

Barbara the butthole is on limited time. Obviously, I am not sad about that. I know that’s all I have said about her: I don’t like her. But let me share a bit more. Babs is my small intestine protruding from my stomach. It’s called a stoma. Because she is only my small intestine, I…

  • Farting Around

    February 20, 2025

If you couldn’t guess by the title, this is my (Chris) triumphant return to writing on the blog! Farting is hilarious. There, I said it. All of you who mind your Ps and Qs, who act prim and proper at all times and think of passing gas as a major faux pas, it’s probably best…

  • The Things We Carry

    February 19, 2025

My Dad’s church would host a week of summer camp. They offered a morning session and an afternoon session…of course I went to both. But it was fun! I did various activities like cooking, building and racing go-karts (where I was the only girl), tennis, and baseball. Costume design/sewing or girl-focused activities held zero interest…

  • One Year

    February 12, 2025

February 12, 2024. My cancer diagnosis day. I had a colonoscopy. The prep was way worse than the actual procedure. Because I had gone to a GI, they were looking for issues because I was bloaty and uncomfortable. The colonoscopy prep I was given was the gaviLyte solution on Super Bowl Sunday. It has a…

  • Chasing Waterfalls

    February 10, 2025

There are few pictures of me without some sort of sports gear. One of my earliest photos of little me is in front of our big bay window next to our kitchen table with a baseball in one hand and a bat in the other. Sports came easy to me. I was always in the…
