I’ve been reluctant to post about anything lately, because I knew it would manifest as a tired and grumpy rant. And let’s be honest, who wants to hear me complain? I’m not the one with cancer!
I’ve probably rewritten this 50 times in the last couple weeks. Writing about my wife fighting cancer unleashes a lot of emotions, but I figured I could at least update you on the kids and the summer.
For the most part the last several weeks have been the Martin family version of Finding Nemo…just keep swimming…both literally and figuratively.
Dylan and Theo both did swim team at Summer Break, which ended a few weeks ago. I’ve got to admit they did better than I expected! Must be good genetics from their Papa 🤷🏼♂️
Jude has been very focused on basketball in the spring and summer…he really wants to make the 8th grade basketball team, and it’s been impressive seeing him put in a lot of hard work to improve. He’s also started to take interest in the gym – I’ve gotten to do some good partner workouts with him…and if you know me, you know I love “built-in rest” which is a key element of partner exercise 😬
The kids left for a few days at Grammy and Grampy’s new house in southern Indiana. It’s something they look forward to every year – a beloved tradition in our family. It’s so popular that our oldest niece and nephew (who are 20 and 17) still make time to be there!
One last thing – Liz’s birthday is Sunday 7/14! It’s amazing, she is turning 29 AGAIN! If you feel inclined, send her a note of encouragement or give her a hug if you see her. It all helps. Love you guys.
Chris
